A coordination meeting was convened to discuss the implementation of Rice Export Zones and the advancement of paddy seed production initiatives. The program is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Department of Agriculture, and the Myanmar Rice Federation.

During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on the initial implementation processes of the Rice Export Zones, which will commence with a total area of 340,000 acres. The meeting also reviewed support measures to be provided to farmers within the designated zones, including agricultural assistance at a rate of MMK 450,000 per acre.
In addition, discussions covered paddy procurement and storage arrangements, as well as the systematic and sustainable implementation of the project in alignment with national and ministerial policies and guidelines.

Furthermore, the Myanmar Rice Federation presented its plan to contribute MMK 1.25 billion in non-depleting capital to the Farmers’ Rights Protection and Benefit Promotion Leading Committee. The fund will support paddy seed production activities across 5,000 acres, and detailed coordination was undertaken regarding the implementation framework of this initiative.
